I won't believe it until it happens, particularly since Dronabinol is schedule III. Would dispensaries be allowed to sell a schedule II substance? Would pharmacies be allowed to dispense? I be most pharmacies wouldn't get involved until a commercially available cannabinoid hits the market.
But I hope it happens. Hopefully they won't schedule it at all, but this kind of conservative decision-making is aligned with the DEA's pattern of behavior.

Reddit doesn't believe it, since there isn't really any credible source. Also,
How the hell can pot be Schedule 2 when Xanax is Schedule 4??
Schedule 2 is defined as: substances, or chemicals are defined as drugs with a high potential for abuse, with use potentially leading to severe psychological or physical dependence.
Schedule 4 is defined as: Schedule IV drugs, substances, or chemicals are defined as drugs with a low potential for abuse and low risk of dependence.
I guess what makes it believable is that I don't see the DEA outright legalizing marijuana, but I could totally see them taking a very conservative approach to the medical marijuana issue by rescheduling it. Who cares that benzodiazepines are on a lower schedule, along with the only legal synthetic cannabinoid, dronabinol? Certainly not the DEA.
Plus, this would be the first time a drug is scheduled DOWN rather than up, and the first time a drug escapes schedule I. Exciting shit.

Schedule I: drugs with no currently accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse. Schedule I drugs are the most dangerous drugs of all the drug schedules with potentially severe psychological or physical dependence.
It may be the first time a drug is reclassified down, but that's only because its been grossly misclassified and demonized via lobbyists by Phillip Morris.
